Sat's litigation experience includes:
- Representing strata corporations and strata lot owners in large construction defect claims
- Representing strata corporations and strata lot owners in condominium disputes
- Representing property owners in claims related to environmental contamination
- Representing First Nations in litigation related to aboriginal rights and title
- Representing local governments in bylaw enforcement proceedings
Sat has represented strata corporations, strata lot owners, local governments, First Nations, corporations and individuals. He has appeared before the British Columbia Provincial Court and Supreme Court.
Sat is a member of the Canadian Bar Association's construction, insurance and environmental law sections. He is also a member of the Professional Association of Managing Agents.
Prior to joining Lesperance Mendes, Sat worked with two highly respected boutique law firms that specialized in local government and First Nations legal issues.
Conferences and Publications
Sat is passionate about legal writing and has written on such diverse topics as the duty to consult, aboriginal title to the foreshore and seabed, punitive damages in insurance claims, cross-cultural dispute resolution and property rights under international carbon trading regimes. His Master's research paper was entitled: Potholes on the Silk Road: China, the WTO and Banking Liberalization.
